Merycochoerus magnus fossil group found near Marsland Nebraska in 1927. The group was originally placed in the Fossil Mammal Hall as shown. Merycochoerus is an extinct genus of terrestrial herbivore of the family Merycoidodontidae (oreodont), endemic to North America during the Late Oligocene to Early Miocene (28.416.3 mya). The photo was taken by DMNH personnel during the course of their work documenting the Museum building and exhibits.
