description:
|
A woman stands at a woodpile in an older style modern dress. Gertrude Van Roekel observes "This shows a typical dress, usually made of calico, T-shaped with loose over-sleeve sewn in and a cuffed undersleeve, pinned in underneath. The skirt is widened by setting in a triangular gore at each side. The hem is trimmed with contrasting strips of material. It is belted with a wide silver-studded leather belt fastened with strips of leather and often a wide buckle. The belt is also used for concealing a short-handled curved butcher knife and a money pouch." Location: Sawmill Canyon.
