Trigonias fossil slab being prepared for a Denver Museum of Natural Hisotry (now Denver Museum of Nature and Science) exhibit. The exhibit featured a group of skeletons found at the Trigonias Quarry at Horsetail Creek. The excavation site was quite significant, yielding the remains of a variety of prehistoric rhinoceroses including at least three complete Trigonias skeletons as well as at least thirty-seven skulls, fifty-nine pairs of mandibles, eight pelvic girdles, eight trays of vertebrae, several complete sets of ribs, and numerous limb bones. Duplicate fossils were used in exchange with various institutions across the country including The Field Museum and Harvard University.
