Because of the hot temperatures, the day starts early on the Kansas/Colorado plains. This photo was taken at 6:49 am. These workers display the uniform of a dig: long sleeves, long pants, gloves and a hat if you are working in the sun and a garden pad when working on your knees. As they remove the dirt, they place it in the bucket to be sifted later to search for small fragments of bone and artifacts.
