description:
Babylonian tablet with inscribed cuneiform cone dated to circa 2200 BCE. These cones, found in the ruins of Babylonian temples, served as a record of the construction of the temple. They were made by the temple priests who inscribed and sold them to the pilgrims. This clay cone reads "To the God Nin-Gir-Su, the mighty hero of the God Bel, has Gudea, the priest king of Lagash, who for the preservation of his life, completed the construction of the temple Na-Ana in the city quarter of Girsu, dedicated this cone."
