description:
Kachina doll carved from wood. It has a pink case mask with black terraced areas under the eyes, red paddle ears, and a snout with teeth. The space under the right eye is painted yellow and under left eye is painted blue-green. It has a kilt, sash, and pale blue-green moccasins. The body is painted red with yellow shoulders, forearms, and lower legs. Appears in regular kachina dance. This is said to be a Zuni type introduced at Mishongnovi in 1899. This kachina probably has another more specific mane. Kwivi seems to be a class of kachinas rather than a type. The mask characters are said to change frequently. The principal characteristic of the Kwivi Kachina appears that they wear a lot of ornaments. The mouth has teeth like the Shalako, making it most likely Zuni. Called Hootsani in the Hopi Dictionary.
