The flag pole supporting the white flag is the center of attraction to the members of the "Ollero" clan, as they gather for the annual fiesta. (The white flag signified a clan division, "Ollero" meaning those known as Hillsmen-Sun-Worshippers, vs the Plainsmen, the other division.) They are dressed in the older modern dress, with all adornments, such as beaded hat bands, added for the special occasion. The women usually used the shawl to cover their heads, especially when they did not care to be identified or wanted to hide their faces. The branches were from the scrub-oak bushes and aspens. This pre-activity was intense for if the runners represented their side, the Olleros would be the ruling body over the whole tribe until the following fall fiesta.
