Gertrude Van Roekel reported this is Susie Elote Wanaskia (1913) posing with her baby near home along Dulce Lake. Susie was one of the girls who had educational opportunities. She returned to reservatuion life, squeezed by culture into dressing in the style of the ladies, but in a modified form. Her baby has knitted booties which is foreign to their art, so this is indicative of a gift from the laity presented by the Mission Social Worker.
