description:
|
As reported by Gertrude Van Roeket: The log house was the permanent home. The tipi and tent were temporary seasonal dwellings for use in the summer. The girl has a modified, shorter Apache-style dress. Her hair has been cut, unusual at that time, probably at school. The boy's hair has also been cut. He is probably wearing clothes provided at the mission school. (The mission schools preceeded the government schools. Public schools came later.)
