Information provided by Gertrude Van Roekel: "Location: West of Dulce, Jicarilla agency. A typical home. The little girl is dressed in complete replica of her maternal ancestors. The hair is knotted and tied with yarn instead of hanging down in braids. The choker and necklace is of shells, significant, mainly, of ceremonial dress. The painted spots on the face are, no doubt, to ward off evil spirits."
