The A-frame home was easily made of scrap material and used for the elderly member living with the family. For winter, the ground was dug out about a foot deep for a sunken floor, which supplied additional warmth. An outdoor oven under the little tree, is a style borrowed from their Pueblo counterparts where they lived prior to 1880, as they had no home assignment by the government at that time.
