description:
|
This was a display of baskets at the Indian Fair in Dulce, New Mexico. Gertrude Van Roekel noted that the large basket to the left is characteristic of older baskets with an animal (horse) design in the weaving. The design plus the fitted lid is the mark of a proficient basket weaver. The rectangular basket on top of the middle basket and the fishing creel on the right were made for sale only and was not used by the Indians. The fishing creel on the right was also only for sale purposes and not used.
