description:
Gertrude Van Roekel noted that this is the classic position for grinding corn where the lady can get the greatest force on the mano, the hand stone . A clean cloth is laid down with the corn or other grain on it, the hand stone is then used to grind the corn. The more repetitions of the grinding the more finished and refined the flour becomes.
