Jaw of Trigonias found in Upper Quarry at Horsetail Creek excavation site. The site, sometimes called the "Trigonias Quarry" was quite significant and led to the discovery of a variety of prehistoric rhinoceroses including least three complete Trigonias skeletons as well as at least thirty-seven skulls, fifty-nine pairs of mandibles, eight pelvic girdles, eight trays of vertebrae, several complete sets of ribs, and numerous limb bones. Duplicate fossils were used in exchange with various institutions across the country including The Field Museum and Harvard University.
