A visitor at USN Dr. James Miller's gravesite on Midway's Sand Island. He was the first Naval death (1906) recorded after the Marine base was created in 1904. He was either assigned to the Marine unit stationed on Midway or on a visiting vessel. His headstone is one of five in the Island cemetery. Midway Islands are near the northwestern end of the Hawaiian archipelago which is a part of the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge.
