Stegomastodon tusks found in Weiss Gravel Pit near Holyoke, Colorado still encased in it's field jacket. The stegmastodon is an extinct proboscidean which lived 1.2 to 6 million years ago. It stood 2.8 metres (9 ft) tall and looked like a robust version of the modern elephant. It weighed about 6,000 kilograms (13,000 lb).
