description:
Keresan Acoma Ceramic Pitcher from the Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico. Apparently the object was obtained by a collector in an exchange with The Smithsonian which collected most of their pieces in the 1870's and 1880's. The collector was probably Fred Harvey with the chain of hotels and stores in the Southwest tied to the tourist trains. The original paper label on the piece has the Harvey lot number "7105" and the retail price of "3.25" from the Indian Store at the Alvarado Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
