description:
|
This Kachina doll is carved from a single piece of cottonwood root. It is shown wearing a white kilt, sash, apron, possibly a conch belt, a skin yoke over which are several necklaces, and a case mask on its head. The mask is blue with two black, round eyes and a black, round mouth. Atop the mask is an 8.0 cm by 0.8 cm diameter stick with remnants of red yarn and twisted black and white yarn strands tied onto the stick with cotton string. The stick is attached to the top of the head with a nail. The torso is painted orange and each arm has a blue band on the upper arm and the lower arm is painted gold.
