Native men gathered in preparation for the Tiger Dance, one holding maracas and standing on the leopard skin. In May 1925, a Museum expedition to South America was undertaken to collect bird and mammal specimens for exhibit in the Standley Memorial Wing. Another trip was organized in 1928 to enhance the collection.
