description:
|
Excavating with heavy equipment. Bryan Small, museum staff, with shovel. This may be the only excavation where construction workers worked side by side with DMNS volunteers & staff to remove the largest number of fossils in a short amount of time. Equipment drivers deftly removed tons of top burden while experienced volunteers & staff sifted through dirt. Some drivers distinguish when the blade hit rock, bone, or wood by the "it felt."
