description:
|
Kirk Johnson, museum Vice President of Research & Collections and Chief Curator (left) and Jessie Steele, bulldozer driver who made the original discovery. This may be the only excavation where construction workers worked side by side with DMNS volunteers & staff to remove the largest number of fossils in a short amount of time. Equipment drivers deftly removed tons of top burden while experienced volunteers & staff sifted through dirt. Some drivers distinguish when the blade hit rock, bone, or wood by the "it felt."
