Bison skull specimen EPV.60678 in situ,Tom Richardson DMNS Volunteer and Dr. Daniel Fisher mastodon expert from the University of Michigan preparing specimen for removal with excavation equipment in background. This may be the only excavation where construction workers worked side by side with museum volunteers to remove the largest number of fossils in a short amount of time. Bulldozer drives deftly removed tons of top burden while experienced volunteers sifted through the dirt. Some drivers distinguish when the blade hit rock, bone, or wood by the way "it felt".
