L-R Sonny Evans and Tom Richardson DMNS Volunteer in foreground clear the soil around Bison epv.60678 in situ with excavation equipment in far background. L-R Steve Holen Curator of Archaeology and Ian Miller Curator of Paleontology and Chairman of Earth Sciences. This may be the only excavation where construction workers worked side by side with museum volunteers to remove the largest number of fossils in a short amount of time. Bulldozer drives deftly removed tons of top burden while experienced volunteers sifted through the dirt. Some drivers distinguish when the blade hit rock, bone, or wood by the way "it felt".
