L-R Dr. Daniel Fisher mastodon expert from the University of Michigan, Dane Miller DMNS Volunteer and brother of Ian Miller, Tony DiCroce DMNS Volunteer, Ian Miller DMNS Curator of Paleontology and Chair of Earth Sciences Division, Bryan Small DMNS Staff, Cody Newton Colorado University graduate student/contractor and aide to Ian Miller, and Sonny Evans carry field jacketed specimen out of Ziegler Reservoir. Juvenile Mammoth EPV.60676 tent in background as well as excavation equipment. This may be the only excavation where construction workers worked side by side with museum volunteers to remove the largest number of fossils in a short amount of time. Bulldozer drives deftly removed tons of top burden while experienced volunteers sifted through the dirt. Some drivers distinguish when the blade hit rock, bone, or wood by the way "it felt".
